WELL KNOWN PERSONALITIES GET BEHIND THE 16TH ANNUAL iTHEMBA WALKATHON

Register now for the World’s biggest Breast Cancer Walkathon

Having launched the 16th edition of the iThemba Walkathon online a few weeks ago, AVON Justine today proudly announced the support of the several well-known South African personalities, who are personally backing the world’s biggest breast cancer walkathon.

The walkathon will takes place virtually on Sunday, the 3rd October will again feature decentralised walks across the country, encouraging participants to walk in small groups in their local neighbourhood.

Getting behind the crusade for a 5th consecutive year is renown TV actor Kay Sibiya and his partner Judie Kama, TV presenter and model Abigail Visagie as well as entrepreneur / Tik Tok sensation Semone Skosan and her family. Long standing iThemba Walkathon advocate, the legendary Lilian Dube will this year be joined by fellow cancer survivor / actress Mbali Maphumulo in support of further create awareness of the crusade. Other well-known figures include comedian extraordinaire Nina Hastie, radio personalities Carissa Cupido, Putco Mafani and Bujy Bikwa, actors Thandy Matlaila, Nicole Bessick and Cedric Fourie, Sports TV hosts Lebo Motsoeli and Simphiwe Dludlu (ex Banyana Bayana player), Fashion Designer Mbali Ndela, content creators Boitumelo Rametsi and Clarrisa M. The multi-award winning artist Candy Tsamandebele Mokwena also officially joins the Ithemba family this year.

The second virtual iThemba Walkathon invite participants from across the globe to register for the event and join the worldwide crusade against breast cancer, as long as they comply with health and safety protocols.

Registration entries for the walkathon are R180 for adults and R100 for children. iThemba Walkathon Walkers can register online at www.ithembawalkathon.co.za or in-store at select Sportsmans Warehouses.

The closing date for online entries is 25 September. In-store registrations close on 15 September 2021.

Early bird entries to this year’s virtual walkathon will receive a gift bag consisting of an iThemba Walkathon 2021 collector’s T-shirt, Avon and Justine products and an iThemba Walkathon 2021 collector’s buff. Participants can choose to have the gift bag directly delivered to their homes for a nominal fee of R80,50 or they can select to collect it, free of charge, at select Clicks store.

The iThemba Walkathon is the largest breast cancer walkathon in the Avon world, consisting of over 50 participating countries that supports the fight against breast cancer by encouraging women to go for regular screening to increase chances of early detection and survival.

Once again Avon will donate the proceeds generated from iThemba Walkathon frontline non-governmental organisations working with breast cancer survivors such as breast cancer support group Wings of Hope, the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), Journeysys, and Look Good… Feel Better (LGFB).
