HENNESSY COLLABORATES WITH AFRICAN GINGER TO LAUNCH SA’S FIRST ROOFTOP COURT IN BRAAMFONTEIN

On November 4, 2023, Hennessy, the world’s leading cognac brand, unveiled a first-of-its-kind Rooftop Court at 73 Juta Street in Braamfontein. I was fortunate to experience and be part of this unique event. This space is perfect – it’s got great views of the neighborhood and I can see why they chose Braamfontein. I’ve spent a lot of time in this area over the years, enjoying the street art, local businesses, and markets. There’s always something cool going on culturally. So this court is a great fit.

With this launch, Hennessy is not only celebrating basketball but also embracing everything that makes Braamfontein such a vibrant community. And they’re letting everyone use the court, so it can help spread creativity and culture for the whole area.

Stef Kondylis, Market Manager of Southern Africa at Moët Hennessy, stated: “The court is a canvas that tells the story of Braam’s urban culture through the lens of Hennessy. As we take our place here, we aspire to become an integral part of the Braam lifestyle. We plan to contribute, celebrate, and be part of this community.”

The unveiling ceremony proved to be a memorable event. Master of ceremonies Siyabonga Ngwekazi, also known as Scoop,  hosted – he did a great job. Performances were given by artists including Tumi from The Volume, Ayanda Mvp and Moonchild as well as Durban Gogo, who engaged the audience through dance. Of course, the Hennessy was flowing all night long too.
