Powerful line-up for MTN Bushfire 2023


Named “Top African festival” by the BBC and hailed by CNN as one of the “7 African music festivals you really have to see,” The MTN Bushfire is proud to share their exciting lineup for this year’s festival, taking place from the 26th to the 28th of May 2023. Showcasing an incredibly diverse lineup headlined by Sho Madjozi, and Angolan Pongo, who blends Kuduro, melancholic pop, dancehall and EDM with lyrics in both Portuguese and Kimbundu. 

Alongside them are amazing artists such as Ami Faku from South Africa, Maleh from Lesotho whose classic soulful melodies celebrates womanhood, Eswatini’s Velemseni with their angelic soaring voice, and iYA with her velvety voice that excavates deeply emotional landscapes with a blend of Soul music and RnB plus Modern Jazz.

You’ll also find South African respected rapper Stogie T and the legendary Black Motion – need no introduction – Sima Mashazi with crystal clear vocals, Louis Mhlanga on outstanding guitar playing; Schalk Joubert on rhythms; Albert Frost; Jonno Sweetman – all of them together making up Afrika Blues. Not to mention Jack Parow “the undisputed king of Afrikaans rap” will also be there to entertain you with his fiery music.

On top of all that, get ready for some stand-up comedy from Britain’s Got Talent finalist Daliso Chaponda plus acrobatic performances from Johannesburg’s premier circus performance company The CIRK in the Main Arena.
