Zolisa Xaluva is a formidable force in the world of acting. His passion is acting, and in recent years he has achieved showbiz milestones that most actors can only dream of. Zolisa has created believable characters through his craft. His masterpieces have not only been recognized but also received national awards such as the SAFTA. I was thrilled to get back in touch with Xaluva after our last interview in 2021 and to know more about his current and future projects, as well as his hopes for the new year. Here are some excerpts…
Muzi: What are you working on right now?
Zolisa: Well, I do have a new gig coming up, but for the time being, it’s a “Watch this space” line. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the best in the industry.
Every gig/production/character I work on serves as a personal challenge for me to improve, do better, and deliver more. My supporters have deserved my best. They keep me centred, inspired, and humble.
Muzi: Let’s talk about your most recent project, the popular Netflix drama series Kings of Joburg, and your company Lakey Media, and how’s that going?
Zolisa: This was a difficult but rewarding role. I worked with such professional talent to create a series that has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both South African and international audiences.
Season 2 of Kings of Joburg is now bigger, better, and more suspenseful than ever. Uncle Shona Ferguson would be ecstatic.
I am the co-founder of Lakey Media and TV Casting, and I have been assisting regular actors and actresses who want to break into the industry by providing opportunities and support that they would not otherwise receive.
Annual membership packages include free workshops and one-on-one actor training.
Muzi: What are your hopes for the new year?
Zolisa: My hopes are high. I understand that South Africa faces numerous challenges, but we have overcome so much and have so much to offer the global stage.
Later this year, I will be taking part in our Company Initiative called *Actors Boot Camp USA*, in which we will bring 30 up and coming actors to the US to join other actors from the USA in a week long Training Camp, followed by another week of sight seeing throughout Los Angeles, California. I’m overjoyed.
Keep an eye on this space, or follow us on Facebook at @LakeyMedia & WhatsApp +27661019218
Muzi: What are your thoughts on New Year’s resolutions?
Zolisa: They usually only last until mid-January. I have made a resolution to be more patient and to improve my eating habits. Let’s see how that goes.
Muzi: Finally, any surprises from Zolisa in 2023?
Zolisa: Yes, there will be a few surprises in 2023, but only good ones.
My schedule for 2023 is already looking busy, but I’m prepared.
Zolisa is a breath of fresh air, I absolutely adore him ❤️❤️
♥️
My home boy from New Brighton, PE keep flying the flag bro.
❤️
I first became interested in Zolisa not from Generations, but from the Queen, and luved how he played character of Diamond… Nyways I kinda agree with him on New Year’s resolutions, but who still makes resolutions lol? Making New Year’s resolutions is something I enjoy doing. That’s fine with me. But, for whatever reason, I wake up every morning making New Year’s resolutions. What is the point of today? Who? Where? What is going on? Who am ? What is the meaning nowadays?Anyways cool read
hahaha,I think the problem with New Year’s resolutions is that they can be problematic when done under pressure or obligation — when you feel obligated to set a New Year’s resolution in order to join the bandwagon with everyone else.
Yebo, I second that.
This is great I love it!
❤️
I enjoyed watching him on Kings of Joburg and can’t wait for season 2!
